When bacteria penetrates the tooth enamel, it causes a cavity to form. To keep it from spreading further and causing more serious and extensive treatment, our team can recommend a tooth-colored filling. Consisting of composite resin that can be color-matched to your existing tooth shade, it allows for more of the natural structure to remain in place while also providing a durable and natural-looking aesthetic. When properly cared for, these restorations can last up to a decade.
Once a tooth suffers serious decay or damage, a filling may not be enough to repair it. Instead, we’ll consider whether a dental crown is enough to offer maximum protection. Customized using EMAX or zirconia materials, these restorations look lifelike and allow for complete functionality. The placement of our dental crowns typically takes 2-3 visits but can last 15 years or more with regular maintenance.
The innermost layer of a tooth consists of the pulp, which is made up of blood vessels, nerves, and tissues. Should this area become infected or damaged, it can result in much pain. The only way to treat this type of problem is for our team to perform a root canal. Designed to eliminate discomfort by removing the damaged pulp, our team can fill in the tooth after thoroughly clearing out the canals and seal it with a customized dental crown. This creates a functional, beautiful, and healthy smile, and it prevents the need for tooth extraction.
We will never recommend tooth extraction as a first resort; however, if all other options prove to be unsuccessful, the only remaining option may be to remove the infected or damaged tooth. If we believe leaving the tooth in place will only worsen your complete oral health, we’ll devise a plan to remove the tooth and replace it using either a dental bridge, partial denture, or dental implant. You can trust, however, that we will keep your safety and comfort as our top priorities throughout your procedure.
