Dr. Walker says that growing up, he didn’t really know what he wanted to do for a job. Because of his love of the outdoors and nature, he majored in microbiology in college, but dentistry wasn’t really on his radar until his older brother was accepted into dental school. His older brother encouraged him to consider a dental career because Dr. Walker always liked working with his hands and building things, and while visiting his brother, Dr. Walker realized that he was right. He considers himself to be very lucky because he doesn’t know how he would have found his way to dentistry otherwise!

WHERE DID YOU STUDY DENTISTRY?

Dr. Walker attended Nicholls State University before earning his DDS degree from the LSU School of Dentistry. Since then, he has gone on to complete Levels I, II, and III of the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education (FACE) program. He has also received extensive training through a comprehensive dental implant residency. Dr. Walker is certified to provide nitrous oxide and oral sedation through DOCS (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation).

Dr. Walker continues to stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry through his memberships in the American Dental Association and Louisiana Dental Association.

Dr. Walker and his wife, Michelle, have three sons, and his parents and four siblings all live within a mile of each other here in Houma. There are 15 grandchildren in total, and everyone usually gets together at someone’s house for dinner at least once a week. When Dr. Walker isn’t enjoying family time, he likes to go hunting and fishing, and he has also been a beekeeper for the last five years.

I called with a chipped front tooth & they told me to hurry in, i was so shocked. I didn't even have an appointment for today. They fit me in their schedule though. He fixed it in the office while calming me down from my dental anxiety, he didnt try to shove a million proceduresdown my throat. Immediately, the staff were so nice. Eva made me feel welcomed, also offering me something to drink. The wait span was very short. After I got into the back, the hygienist and her partner were very friendly. I was very shocked when I laid back-to see a tv on the ceiling. Dr Walker was super nice and open to questions and concerns. He was opened to get to know me as a person, rather than just my dental concerns. He helped me figure out plans for treatments easily. My experience was very pleasant. I called in because I was extreme pain due to a broken wisdom tooth. I was able to be seen the same day. Went into the office everyone there was pleasant and helpful and kind. They immediately let me know I was in good hands. As one who is terrified of dentistry, I have to say that Doctor Ryan Walker is the only Dentist who has my vote and confidence. I had a tooth extracted today and it was of course not pleasurable,but was not painful. His bedside manner was above approach.
